bone implant for an 80 years old

I'd been out of myLot for the past weeks because of a relative who had an accident, got bone fracture on her hips. The doctors says she needs a bone implant for her fractured bone to be able to walk again, or she'll be forever stuck in a wheelchair. At her age, is it advisable to have an operation?
