my favorite thing to do with my children is cook. Just recently my son celebrated a birthday. In our home, everyone gets to eat his/her favorite meal on his/her birthday. This year, my son requested that I buy the ingredients for pizza. He prepared the pizza. I was on oven duty and his little sister was the taster. Big Fun!

Now that my kids are grown, I love the times when we've had dinner together, the grandchilden are in bed or settled down reading or watching TV and the adults are sitting around the table talking. That may sound boring to some, but it is such a good feeling to see my children as intelligent adults still getting along with each other, laughing together, sharing parenting tips and memories.

Well I think that my favorite thing to do with my kids right now is reading books to them. They are 4 and 2 and the will just come up to me with a book and ask me to read it to them. When I say yes to them, they will ask me... can I sit in your lap daddy. I absolutely love that! I get to read to them and they just sit there and listen to me. And for those of you who have kids know that they really don't sit still for long, so any time that you can get them to just sit and be with you is golden. This weekend we got our first snow of the year, and we all as a family went sleding tonight. It was such a fun time. Both kids were giggling like little school girls as we were pulling them to the park.

My kids are grown now and I miss them so much. We used to go camping along the river. We would play in the river, hike and just enjoy each other's company. We had such fun and we grew closer from these trips. We would camp miles away from anyone. We would fish and fry them for supper. We would hike and gather berries. We did not have a camper. We began camping the back of our truck with a tarp as a roof. Then later we purchased a tent. Wow! I miss those days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane

My Grandchildren are 2 and 3 1/2 but they live an 8 hour drive away so we dont really get to see them much. They were home for Chistmas and it was great. I had forgotten what it was like to sleep with a toddler in the bed. They tend to crowd alot and take up most of the bed. LOL But I loved it!

My kids love just about anything we do with them. We take them to the park, to watch movies, Chuckie Cheese, or have a nice quiet evening at home play wrestling or playing games. Anything is fun with the children just to see their smiling faces and to know you yourself put it there.

When my son was younger I loved getting on the floor and playing with him - we'd sit and play cars or build things together with legos. I looked forward to bedtime and reading to each other too. We use to have to commute home each night because I worked out of town and he went to preschool in the city where I worked - on the drive home we would talk and sing together. Those memories will always be in my heart forever. Now that he's a teen we've made some traditions that have become special to us. Every summer he has a beach party and bonfire with all his friends. We pack everyone up and head to the beach for the day. We set up the bonfire while the kids play in the water or stroll on the pier - then at night we cook hamburgers and roast marshmellows. The kids talk about it for 3 months before and 2 months after and they all look forward to it each year. Another tradition is every winter we take my son and a group of his friends to the mountains so they can go snowboarding. We rent a cabin and make a mini vacation out of it for 3 nights. We do this 2-3 times during winter when we can and it's so much fun. I honestly love just being around my son doing anything and everything. We play games and go on trips and just sit and talk together. He's pretty awesome.
