Should I get my son a ds?

My 6 yr. old son has been asking me to get him a nintendo ds. But I am so against it. I feel that he will spend most of his time just playing it. I think he feels left out that all his friends have one and he doesn't. My husband does not feel the way I do. He thinks I'm a killjoy at times. I just feel there are other healthy ways a child can spend his time. Should I just give in?

From my experience I have a Nintendo Ds and its a great machine. If I were the parent getting this machine for my child. I would put some limitations on his or her usage. when they can and can't play depending on what their supposed to do everday. other wise they won't play it all the time, if you don't buy very many games. they'll just get bored and want a break to hang out with friends. Don't worry just have control how offten they play.

Yes, I see your point. I might just have to surprise him with it soon. Thank you for your respond.
