Makeup: do you wear it?

I have never warmed to the idea of putting something on my face everyday, or even every other day. I touch my face far too much and would smudge all of it around; by the end of the day I would look quite a mess. I will wear it on occasion if I need to dress up or I'm going out, but otherwise I don't find it worth the effort. So here is my question to you (men and women): do you wear makeup? If so, how often, and do you enjoy it? Do you do it for a particular reason, or has it become habit?

Hm... sometimes I wonder what is the definition of make-up? Is applying the moisturiser, foundation and the powder is considered as make-up? Well, as for myself, I think make-up is necessary. After the daily routine that I mention up there, I would get my blusher and apply it on my apple cheek just to get a fresher look. I do eyeliner these days, mostly because of my job. And since my eyebrow is not well-defined and not obvious, I get it shaped and invest in brow definer. And definitely a must-have mascara, I love clinique mascara. It is long lasting and indeed it's waterproof. I used to think that make up is very troublesome and unnecessary, but looking back I have to say that I was lazy. It's not troublesome at all, and I highly encouraged u to start putting make up. Not that extra heavy make-up of course, but the light make up. I think it enhances our look, really!! And once u get used to it, u'll love it. For me, it's kinda become my habit. Leaving house without make-up on is weird, unless i am out for supper or just to buy back things. Let us know more whether u have started to use the make up or not. Let us know how it feels too. Sharing is caring ;)

I wear makeup when I cosplay. My photo gets taken a lot, and I don't want to look shiny in my photographs. Plus, I generally need to make my skin look lighter or darker than it is. But I don't bother with makeup for just going out or whatever. It's not worth it. The most I'll do is a little eyeliner or something.

Oddly enough, I adore facepaint, which can be so much more messy than makeup. But I wear it so infrequently that I can stand to not touch my face for a few hours. I know you're not talking about facepaint, but it just reminded me of the one case in which I will willing cover my face in "makeup" of a sort, heh. As a side note, who have you cosplayed as?

It's funny, but my girlfriend gets very excited if I put makeup on or let her put it on me. This is probably because she barely ever sees me in it, but wishes I'd wear it more...it'd be nice if she didn't care and I could just be my everyday old self and have her happy with me, heh.

I wear makeup when I feel like it. Usually everyday I put on eyeliner and blush and that's it. I'm a big fan of eyeliner, something about the way my eyes look behind that smoldered darkness. hehe, I'm an artist -what can I say? If I'm around the house, with my partner, or in a hurry I really don't feel the need to put it on though... I guess it depends on the occassion.

I don't wear it often. Only for special occassions. Our skin probably thanks us for it. I think the most make-up I ever wore was when I was in a clown troupe.

I agree, I think most skin is at its healthiest when it's allowed to breathe properly and is only treated with things such as lotion, when needed. A clown troupe! That must have been an interesting experience...how long did you take part in that?

Did it for three years. It was absolutely amazing how different you act once the makeup goes on.

This is a really good question for me to answer right now, because I am actually 31 and have only had makeup on maybe two or three times in my entire life up until now. My mother was never a makeup or a dressing up sort of person, and therefore I never learned the habit myself. I also have the habit just like you said of touching my face too often, and I am going to have to get over that personally because I really want to try makeup now. I am at a time and place in my life where I really wish to see what makeup can do for me. I have a really good friend who just sent me a big box of stuff to experiment with *laugh* She's totally awesome to do this for me. So I am going to be trying makeup for essentally the first time, as I have never put makeup on myself before, and have only had it put on for me a few times, as I said above.

I was wondering if anyone would respond with such an answer. :) I have heard from others that they enjoy wearing at least a bit of makeup because it makes them feel pretty. I think that it's a nice, simple way to feel good about yourself, even if it has to be reapplied daily. Still, I don't mind how I am now and find makeup too much of a hassle.

First and foremost, let me emphasize the importance of good, healthy skin. A good canvass (great skin) is always important. I'm a make-up artist and I know that expensive foundation can only do so much to mask bad skin. For women, I suggest that you don't shy away from make-up. It's there to be your best ally, not your enemy. The key is knowing how much to put and how to apply it. Color blending is also vital to avoid looking like a clown. Personally, I wear make-up because it enhances what I already have. It's fun experimenting with it too because you can really go from one look to another. Make-up offers a lot of possibilities :)

It has totally become a habit. I wear tinted moisturizer, a little powder, blush, a hint of eyeshadow and mascara. I have never gotten the hang of eyeliner though. I feel naked without some makeup on. If I am in a hurry, I just powder my nose, blush my cheeks and mascara my lashes. I have to have the mascara because I have blond eyelashes and I feel like I look funny without it. My husband says I am beautiful with or without makeup, but he has to say that since he loves me.

I don't wear make up unless I am going out or meeting friends in which case I put on foundation and eyeliner. But I do wear tinted moisturizer with sunscreen most days. I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing tinted moisturizer each day particularly as it contains sunscreen. But I think people who wear "full make up|" ie, lip stick, thick foundation, mascara etc on a daily basis are probably wasting their time. I find mascara in particular to be very irritating. You also tend to look like Morticia from the Adams family after a few hours...

When I was working I would put make up on every single day. There was not any way you would get me to leave the house without having my face on. Now that I stay at home with the kids I don't seem to think that putting on my face is that important. I spend most of my days taking care of the kids and cleaning the house. I work up a sweat and can just see that make up running down my face, so no way am I going to bother with it now. The only time that I put on make up now is if we are going out somewhere.

I don't wear makeup not because I dont have time to put it on, but because I see it as a natural beauty thing. I don't care who looks at me and judges me because I know that I am beautiful both outside and in. I've always been told that I have natural beauty and don't need it so I don't go out and try to buy it either. My mother usually buys me eyeshadow and things of that sort but the only stuff I wear is eyeliner and a light eyeshadow to bring out my eyes, lipgloss to give is a shiny look, and very rarely mascara cause it's so hard to get off.

I've worn makeup since I was about 14 or so, but only recently started wearing eye makeup. I'm 35! I never had the confidence to apply it correctly, but now have learned how and I love it! Used to be only about applying foundation and a little blush, now I get the works, but I don't wear makup everyday. I'm home with the kids most the time, so I don't get all made up for them! I wear it when we leave the house though, even if it's just to go down the street to the park.

I used to wear it quite a bit for work but then when I started working at home I stopped. I still put a little on but not as heavy as I used to. If I am going out with my husband I make myself up but thats about it! A little eyeliner, some concealor and lipstick and thats usually it for me.

Yes I wear make-up but I limit it light, just pressed powder blush and lip gloss. I use more make-up for special occasions like weddings and parties.

I wear makeup every single day. On most days I will put everything on: foundation, concealer, bronzer, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara but on some days I will just put some concealer and mascara on. I wear it because I feel that I look better with it on and it makes me more confident.

I haven't worn make up in two and a half years. For me it was a hassle and an extra expense I don't really need to try and fit into my poor college student budget. Plus I've never really been a girly girl anyway.
