I absolutely love road trips and so do my children. It really doesn't matter what the destination, it is just fun driving and looking at scenery and checking out things along the way. We did a trip in summer of 2005 to Coloma, CA and walked around the gold mining area and then went and tried gold panning for ourselves. The kids had a ball, they still talk about it. I can't upload a picture as I don't have 500 posts yet. But I can tell you it was one of the most memorable things that we did on the spur of the moment.

That's funny! It's because you just get too excited about you're trip and you're not paying attention :}

If it is less than 100 kms I prefer road trip. Otherwise I like railways and airways.

We travel to see my inlaws once a month, and it's a 3 hour drive each way. We've been going there for 16 years, so we can pretty much do it in our sleep! So I don't really call that a road trip, cause the girls usually sleep most of the way and hubby and I take turns driving. Hubby and I did take a long road trip this summer, from PA to Tennessee for our 20th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed it because it gave us a chance to actually sit and talk without any interruptions. The girls were at church camp, so it was just the 2 of us.

That's one of the reasons I love road trips with my husband...we just have such a great time alone. We don't have children but it's really nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I love road trips! I live in Illinois..so anywhere desirable is a road trip! my family drove to Florida and on the way back we stopped off just for the heck of it and spent the night in Nashville and went to a concert at the grand ole opry! it was a blast..wish we had enough money to always be that spontaneous!
