Most women find their hair to be their crowning glory. We love to color it, cut it, braid it and everything. And like most women, I have done everything that can be done to it. But for about a year now, I have been growing my hair out naturally and have it at about my shoulders, but would like sooo much longer, at least to the middle of my back. I braid it quite a bit, to keep my hair growing..What types of things do you do to make your hair grow quickly? What do you do to keep your hair shiny and strong....I would like to hear differnt womens and mens opinions.

I am also trying to gwow my hair long...my no problem is spit ends...and the only treatment for it is trimmimg.I heard that if u come ur hair a lot especially at night and also some has sworn by using the Mane and tail shampoo makes ur hair grow faster. As much as i like to have my hair treated in the salon, its very expensive.I have been using Virgin coconut oil.It makes my hair softer and a bit shinnier.it is also is cheaper than going to salons.

Ok so I dont have the shiniest hair, but that's due partly to it being so curly...it's really hard to make curly hair shine. However it is quite long and it has taken me nearly 3 years to get it from top of the shoulders to my back (bra-strap level). In those 3 years, I found that keeping the damage to a minimum (no haircolor, blow dryers, hot irons, curling irons) is a result of trimming (1/8 inch) and 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter enjoyed orally per day! I should say that when I started growing out my hair, I had nearly three inches of split ends cut from the get-go. Then every 6-8 weeks (depending on split ends!), I would get it cut. Also, I have dry hair, so I dont wash it every day, however, I do condition it everyday, whether in the shower with the rinse out conditioner, or with leave in conditioner applied to damp hair. Leave-in conditioner is great for hiding those split ends quickly!

I keep my hair, up in a pony tail and use a hair clip. That way I don't break my hair taking rubber bands out. I also brush it everday at least for 30 minutes. I do this when watching the evening TV. Also, protein! Try eating at least a table spoon of peanut butter a day, this will increase your hair growth. Last but not least, don't over wash it. That will dry your hair out. Once you are in your late twentys, washing your hair every other day won't hurt and use conditioner! Hope this helps.

I find if i trim my hair at the ends it grows faster i also have done most everything to my hair but have recently quit dying it as i cant seem to find the exact natural brown color that my hair really is i dont want to change the color but want to just cover the grey but with no success it tends to look burgundy or black so now I'm thinking just going to pluck the greys and leave it undyed

I have had very long hair for 10 years, and I still get compliments on how healthy it looks. I don't use any special products on it. I use shampoo and conditioner but I don't use the same ones all of the time because of build up. I also don't rip through my hair when I comb it or brush it. I start from the bottom and use a wide toothed comb when it is wet. I also don't use styling products everyday, or blow dry it. Only on the weekends I use a flat iron and a little bit of "Got 2 be Hottie" to get it to shine and look great. It almost looks flawless. I take a multivitamin everyday. During he week I use a barret that clips close to ponytail my hair. The barret is pretty big, and I buy them at Walmart. I have pretty thick hair, so a rubber ponytail holder gives me a headache. I do my own coloring and highlights every 2 months, with products that aren't that harsh, so it does minimal damage. I trim it myself every month, so that is probably why I don't find split ends. I think taking good care of it is what helps it grow faster. It is a lot of work, but I don't have to style it everyday, so that's less maintenence. I treat my hair like an accessory, it should look good, or cut it. I think long scragly hair is ugly, and if my hair looked like that I would rather cut it than to keep it because it's long. My hair is waist length.

Yes, I agree! you should not use the same products for your hair. I believ I read it once in a magazine. The most that you should keep the same product is 2 months, I believe.

I dont think braiding your hair will keep it growing. However you should have a protein rich diet to get good healthy hair that does not break. Eggs, fish etc bring shine to your hair. I have never coloured my hair, Im too scared that one day it might all fall out. A good diet and lots of exercise is the best way to get your hair to grow quickly. Try to stay away from junk food. Drink lots of fruit juices and water so that your scalp always remains hydrated. Good luck. Its takes patience to grow beautiful hair. But persevere and it will be yours.

oiling helps? I never knew that! I have the same problem. I keep trimming my hair. I heard that if you trim it on a fullmoon, this also helps.

I would suggest not to braid your hair. It cause tangles and waves in hair. I use virgin coconut oil once a week. apply it on my scalp. I notice how soft, shiny and dandruf-free my hair is. Also, after a month of using it, i've grown an inch with my hair. As they say, a healthy scalp, promotes lenghtier and stronger hair.

I have done all kinds of things to my hair, strighten it, curl it, braid it, cut and color. I think the best way to grow your hair is keep your roots strong. Have light trim one in 3 months. This will only increase the speed of growing. Give your hair an oil massage once in a week. Almond oil is really good for hair. Apply and massage for atleast 10 minutes, then wash it off. Always use a good shampoo and conditioner. Loreal is a good one. Eat healthy and drink lots of water.

I have very shiney hair even my hair dresser was impressed. I colour it but I think that omega 3 and omega 6 has alot to do with it.It helps with both growth and make your hair shinier. But since i have been taking the supplements i have found my nails to have gotten thicker as well - they dont break like they used to

may be I am a conventional woman. I like my hair grow as long as it can. Now my hair about 40 inch and never had a problem with my hair. I used hair tonic (neril) for the strenght and grow quikly. Since I've been a little girl I think that the long hair was so pretty. It look so good and majority of men in my country like the woman who had a long hair....:)

You know what, I love my hair too. I shampoo everyday, I use anti dandruff shampoo so that it is always dandruff free. I have a haircut every month at least 2 cm or 3cm it grows faster based on my experience. My hair grows fast, comb your hair before going to bed.

Well for your hair to make it grow much longer..you can use a hair grower you can buy it in any malls. For me to make my hair shiny all the time I apply spa treatment at least once a week. I shampoo it every other day and put conditioner every day. But theres this new craze in the saloon called hair reborn..it says that it can make your hair shiny and really smooth..This i also want to try. Or maybe Il just have my hair cellophaned so that I dont have to dye it anymore. The often you dye your hair the more it becomes brittle and dull. So you have to maintain the treatment as much as possible to make it stay alive.

You could always try taking some prenatal vitamins. Pre natal vitamins are great for your skin, hair and nails because they contain very important vitamins that are important for a baby's growth and health, but they'll do wonders for your hair.

A hot oil treatment for my hair now and then. A trim every once in a while to avoid split ends. and of course, a good diet to add nutrients for ur hair.
