Teaching or nursing?

I'm a freshman in college and I know I have plenty of time to choose what career I want in life but I'm having trouble leaning toward a decision. I love being around kids, I come from a big family and I really want to get a job that means something to me. I want a job where I am able to help people that's why I want to become a teacher or a nurse. If any teachers or nurses are reading this maybe you can give me some ideas on what you go through and have to do at your job on a daily basis? what are the starting salaries? what is the average amount of hours daily or in a week? do you have to be committed to your job even when you are at home? what would be a better job for me in the future when I am looking to start a family? I hope some of you can help me out, just to get an idea of what I would have to do.
