Dating After Divorce

It is an individual thing. Some people have been so hurt, they may not be ready for a long time. Others may be so relieved to be out of the marriage and want to get on with there lives again. Depends on their age, if they have kids. Lots of things. So, whenever is right for that person, will be the right time. A day later or years later.

Honestly when I first divorced to swore to everyone that I didn't want or need a man in my life, I was going to get 40 cats and live by myself. Everyone thought that I was joking until 10 months pasted and I still was not dating. My Step-Mom got concerned and bought me an eharmony account. I filled out the questionaire just because I wanted to see what it would say about me, and as it turned out it was pretty accurate. It took me another 3 month before I went out on my first date. Don't rush into it, you will know when the time is right, just follow your instincts. Good luck.

Being a divorced female, I don't think there is a set time to start dating. It really depends on the person and if his/her heart is mended and she/he ready to move on with that part of their life. Some can go right into it some can't. Myself I didn't rush right into it.

I think it all depends on the break up. If the husband or wife leaves quite suddenly and it's a bit of a shock to their partner then they would need a while to grieve the loss of that relationship. Some divorces are a long time coming though and the love may be completely gone by the time the divorce happens. I think it's ok in this case to start dating again fairly soon.
