Amazing Octopi

Octopi (or octopuses, if you prefer) are amazing and fascinating creatures. They can change their coloration, fit through holes the width of a tentacle, and are remarkably intelligent. And quite tasty when prepared properly (mmm, tako!), though I feel guilty saying that about such a smart organism. Do you think they will one day become increasingly intelligent and perhaps develop more astounding abilities? Perhaps the idea put forward in "The Future Is Wild" a while back on the Discovery Channel is not so far fetched...very intelligent octopus descendents, having evolved to live in groups in trees.
