LOTR actors in other movies

How would you compare the actors' handling of their character in LOTR with the way they were in other movies they appeared in? For example, Viggo Mortensen looked very much different as Aragorn and as the rider of Hidalgo. I prefer him portraying the kind of character as Aragorn than a clean shaven one. Another is Orlando Bloom who seemingly got stereotyped as a bow & Arrow bearing character. Which do you think make him more memorable as a character, in Pirates of the Carribean or as Legolas? And how about Gandalf? Would you have recognized him as Magneto in Xmen?

Well seeing as the LOTR trilogy is one of my favs of all time I can honestly say I have an educated answer...LOL Viggo... hmmm I have seen him in most of his films and each time he has that clean shaven look, but in LOTR. There was something about that scruffy unshaven grubby look that really made him look almost edible.. Orlando, I loved him as legolas, but I also loved his role in Pirates, I cannot say which was better as they were both unique roles. And Sir Ian McKellen,,, well what can I say. Just another underrated actor. I would recognise him anywhere. His voice would give him away each time. In the divinci code when toms character is answering the three questions to gain entrance to the house of Sir Ians and you hear his voice say "you may pass" EVERYTIME I just have to say "YOU SHALL NOT PASSS!!!!!" LMAO Sorry.... had to.

every actor has his/her own style and that is potrayed in every movie of his.the LOTR was a great and a very big movie and all he actors performed very well in the movie.but they cant be stuck doing one movie only.each movie has its own essence and each character is a challenge to the actor.i guess all of the LOTR actors are doing fine as other characters in other movies like you have mentioned.

I love this topic :) Viggo - He was incredibly good looking as Aagorn but I honestly think he just does not have a good look in other movies I've seen him in. Outside of looks, I also think his acting was better in LOTR. Maybe he just identified with the character more since it's so well developed but I would like to see him take on more roles such as that one. Orlando - I liked Legolas and he did a great job with it, but that was a supporting role, I think he managed to step out more in Pirates so I'd say that will be a more memorable role for him. What's funny is I was reading the back of Ned Kelly last night and you know how they list the actors followed by movies they've in? His said Orlando Bloom (Pirates..., Troy) no mention of LOTR. Says something. Ian McKellen - Yes, I did know it was him, but you wouldn't necessarily see it. He is an amazing actor. He was also in the Da Vinci code if anyone is wondering.

I always picture Viggo as Aragorn. I love him as Aragon. I've seen other movies of Viggo and he's not as appealing and as good looking as he was when he portrays Aragorn. As for Orlando Bloom, I've noticed that after his LOTR portrayal as Legolas he has been stereotyped to those type of characters. Which I love also coz he really looks good in those characters. I specially don't like him in the movie Black Hawk Down :-).As for Elijah Wood, I don't know, but his portrayal as the hobbit always sticks to my mind that I can't think of him playing any other character. I've seen his movie with Mandy moore and I just can't erase in my mind that he is not a hobbit.:-)

How about Elijah as the killer in Sin City? I agree, it's difficult to take out ELijah away from his image as a hobbit. As for Sean Austin, he's really grown fat. What movie was that where they were kids hostaged in a school and he was the one who was able to give information to the police as to their condition?

I love them all, everywhere, regardless of what movie. I loved Hidalgo, and it doesn't seem to me that Viggo Mortenson changed his acting style. He was still quiet, soft-spoken. Orlando Bloom is great anywhere, including POTC. And yes, I did recognize Ian McKellan as Magneto. He's a legend. And how about Sean Astin in Rudy? And Christopher Lee in the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (with Johnny Depp, an amazing actor who actually lives in character and changes with every movie, it's so awesome!)?

Viggo's been around a long time, but it certainly was nice to see him play an honorable character (a hot one at that, lol). Orlando is memorable in sackcloth and ash... I can't comment on Gandalf as Magneto because I have never seen an Xmen flick.

Well the only other thing I saw Viggo Mortensen in was Daylight. He was very good in that, even if his character was killed off early on. I enjoyed him in there but he also looked very different. Sean Bean is always good, as a bad guy he really does a great job. I've seen him in several movies and he's always does a superb performance. The movie might not always be that good but he makes it better by his acting. Now the guy who played Eomer, who I'm blanking on his name at the moment, I loved when he was on Xena and Hercules. He always looks so different though. He did a great job as Cupid and then as Cesear but as Eomer he again looked very different. He's one that is hard to spot because of it. Ian McKellen I have enjoyed ever since I saw him in The Scarlett Pimpernel. He is fabulous no matter who he plays. He is one I am glad to see doing more and more. He's great as the bad guy in X-Men as Magneto and lets not forget the forgettful professor in The Shadow. He was perfect for Gandalf. Can I say I watch too many movies? When they casted the characters they did a great job. All the actors I've enjoyed in other movies. John Rhys Davies, Sean Astin, Elijah Woods, and Orlando Bloom as well. They all do wonderful performances, Lord of the Rings was just one that really showed off their abilities.

I think that the best character for Viggo is Agragor he looked better as Aragorn than the rider of Hidalgo but Orlando Bloom looked better as Will Turner than Legolas .

I loved Viggo Mortensen in a Perfect Murder. He wasn't a well known actor back then and he was the perfect bad guy.
