Can we run a country without politicians??

Let us not resign to the situation..What I am trying to ask anyone is that while continuing in the democratic set up, can we evolve a better system whereby our politicians are more answerable and accountable to the people of the country.. such as compulsory graduation for all contesting politicians, vigilance over their modus operandi, declaration of their assets and other curbs which do not allow them to be disloyal to people.. Are these measures going to hold water or do they misfire? What could be the best means to make them work? or Can we altogether do without them?? Employ bureaucracy or anything else. Whatever we do, we want everything under the ambit of democracy.. Please feel free to air your views, debate, disagree, repudiate or else.. I just wanna know how people feel about it? Let this be any society... Thanks.
