Hi about 3 years ago I found out I had a hernia, my stomach sticks 3 cm ABOVE my diafram, which in turn generate the worst heartburn ever.
I have been on the so called PPI (proton, pump inhibitors) with medium to low levels of success. So I'm looking at getting the operation done. The one where they wrap your stomach around your oesphaugus.
I want to know if anyone had it done and if it works ?

I had the laproscopic lap nissen, which is what you describe, laproscopic means it was done with only four 1/2 inch incisions with long tools and a camera. Unfortunately five days after the surgery i had a complete hiatal hernia, which is what you have now, but my entire stomach entered my chest cavity. It collapsed my left lung, ripped the lung sack and was putting pressure on my heart. I was opened up in the center of my abdomen from the bottom of the ribcage to below the belly button. The docs had to cut my diaphragm and pull my stomach back down and put everything back into place. My diaphragm is now stitched to my ribcage, it hurts when i breathe deeply and i still take prescription prilosec. I am physically unable to throw up and if i do i must go to the hospital immediately. I am unable to burp which means the gas only has one way to go often leaving me feeling bloated. i should buy stock in Gas-X as much as I use them. Now I am the worst case scenario, I actually know two other people who have gotten this done with no side effects whatsoever. Good Luck!
