Hey there, the secret is in the work out. It isn't how long but how hard you excercise. Let yourself feel a bit of burn and be sure to cool down well so there is no toxic build up in your muscles afterwards. They will hurt a bit the next day but as they say no pain no gain and is try when you are battling those last few pounds.
A good source for fun excercises is in magazines such as Shape, even Chateline and are usually available in the library. Can photocopy pages too.
I am unsure where the extra weight is and does make a difference in order to suggest the correct excercises for those parts. In any case you will want to rotate daily, the muscles you are working out, with each work out so choose several good excercises. Walk, briskly even if around the block. This will help speed your metabolism therefore burn more calories. An old trick is to eat a grapefruit about 1/2 hour before bed. Something about the citrus helps burn cals too and you burn them when you sleep as well. Excercises I will suggest are waist twists, sitting on a bench or chair so your knees support you. Hands to the back of your head, facing centered. Turn to the left at the waist and hold for four. Back to center, then to the right, hold for four. These are good waist busters in addition to side bends. In standing position, hands down to sides, feet shoulder length apart and slide your arm down as you bend to the left bringing your other arm up on the other, bending elbow. Then up and from straight ahead slide arm down as you bend to the right, bringing the left arm up, bending at the elbow. Do both excercises 20X for each side=40. Do that three times to start.
Another is sitting on the floor, back straight, tummy in and thrust your right leg forward, then the left and do this moving yourself across the floor. Put hands on hips while you do it if you like. Give yourself enough space to move each leg 10 or 20 times. Go ahead 20 then back twenty. Do this three times. You will have to impliment other excercises as well and more to alternate with each day so you are working a different part of your body every other day.
There are so many I could right a whole few pages here. Do the ones above and repeat three times, resting a couple mintes between starting over again.
Ride bike, swim and dance. All good sources of excercise. Speed walking on a track three days a week for an hour is good too.
There are also donkey kicks good for the thighs and butt. Leg raises. Check the internet for some excercises that are geared toward the area that you want to loose. Cut out all fatty foods, sugar and dairy. Drink lots of water and keep active. More than you have been. Look up foods that burn calories too.
