Hi there I am 49 yr old male and my partner has fibromyalgea she is 38. I was wondering if there is a support group or some kind of organisation that offers advice on dealing with this condition. Any help on this terrible condition would be appreciated. Kind regards E Steen

I am a 49 year old female, and I have had fibro for about 15 years. It is really painful at times, but the pain would be easier to deal with than the fatigue and memory problems! I hate having no energy at all, getting so tired so quickly, and then there is not being able to remember things! I HATE that! Some other fun symptoms include irritable bowel syndrome, trigger point pain, chemical sensitivities, sensitivity to hear and cold, sensitivity to light and /or sound, and problems with balance. The pain is just the tip of the iceberg!

And I forgot to mention the insomnia! That is a real treat!! LOL You have to have a great sense of humor and a good attitude to survive this!

One thing that has helped me a little is a suppliment called Activive. You can find it online. It is all herbal and can help give back a little energy. It's good that you are concerned. The greatest suport she can get is from you and loved ones. Try to keep her from becoming too stressed and it will help a lot. Also walking, and light exercise. Also I get a massage when ever I can, but she must make sure it is from someone who has worked with people with fibromyalgia before and is gentle. Don't make the same mistake so many make thinking this is an illness of the mind it is not. I have intense muscel spazams, freak fevers, and increase pain in damp cold weather. As far as a suport group in your area, I wouldn't advise it, I went to one once and it was just depressing, a bunch of people feeling sorry for themselves who really needed to just do something about it. I don't know if you will find anything else. If you find something possitive please let me know.

My mother-in-law has Fibromyalgia and she tried a hormone balancing cream. Has your wife tried that? Arbonne has a hormone balancing cream called PhytoProRelief and it uses plant hormones so you dont' have the extremes like you would with synthetic hormones like in birth control pills. It isn't expensive $30 for 3 months worth. if you would like to check it out http;//jeanettesmith.myarbonne.com

Check out the National Fibromyalgia Association site: http://www.fmaware.org/ There's a lot of information on the site. There's a support group directory on the site, linked on the lower left hand side. Hopefully you can find something there. Otherwise, have her ask her doctor about any support group.
