So in smaller cities you must own a car or, if you are a child, a bycicle. I don't like to drive but, perhaps, in a small city with no heavy traffic I would give in and do it.

Public transportation in Sri Lanka is nothing but hell. They are overcrowded, ramshackle and are always late and rare. We have the buses and trains for public transport. Both these services are running at a tremendous loss to the government and are a burden on the treasury. But the fares are much cheaper than other countries. In fact it must be the cheapest in the world. To travel 25 kilometers it will cost only 20 US cents.

In the US, it depends on the city and area. In NY and its surronding areas its great. In Detroit, where I live, it sucks.

If you live in the city or a larger town it is good but if you are in the country, then not so good. In fact where we live there is no public transport so we have to use our cars to get anywhere we want to go.
