My very first job was babysitting. I really didn't like babysitting at all. I would have rather started out walking beans and detasseling corn first. They don't talk back LOL

I only had two baby sitting jobs...one was more of a mother's helper (since she wouldn't leave me alone with her kids) and the other once a year on NYE for a coworker of my mom for 2 years. The first lasted 3x; she didn't like that I knew how to get around her house, but the previous owner and my mother were best friends; her boys and my sister and I played together; and our homes were laid out basically the same way. The other one moved away. I didn't care for babysitting--I really don't like kids much! ;)

My grandpop had a jewelry stand at a flea market in Jersey and he used to pay me $40 a day to work there (I used to work the weekends). It was fun in the summer, but I hated it during the winter because it was so cold.

Are you still a cook? That's a strange combination...dishwashing AND food prep? What type of food did they serve?

I'll say--how old were you when you worked as a receptionist? And why such a drastic change to a translator? That's quite a story you've got going! Thanks for sharing!

What is an mc job--mcdonald's? I would think that they could have been shut down for doing that.

My very first job was a public records clerk with the Credit Bureau. I would go to the county office building after school and call into my supervisor and they would give me names and social security numbers to do public records searches on and then I would report back to them. I did it all through my 4 years of high school and had a great time. I learned alot about credit and how important it is to have good credit.

My very first job was in a restaurant. It was odd in several ways. I had known the owner through my mother, & the family of the owner & my family had become fast friends. He then asked my mother if he knew anyone who was looking for work & recommended me.
Here is the oddball part. He had someone working both, the lunch time & dinner time, but because school was starting, he needed someone for the lunch period. What made it oddball was that the two people who had to start school again in September were sisters, & they were also the younger sisters of my best friend\ from high school.

I was 10 years old, and I use to babysit for my next door neighbors baby (baby Dylan) every saturday night, and in the summertime when I was on school break I would be a Mother's helper every weekday. It was great because I'd get to go with the family to the beach, and other trips they took in the summer time. I made pretty good money for the 3 years I did this, before we moved.

The first job I had was kind of a volunteer thing but we got paid a small amount yearly. It was teaching sunday school to preschool children during church while the parents attended the services. It was a great start and also taught me so much. I also worked part time in the produce department of a grocery store where I weighed and labeled peoples produce.

Before I started at university,I took my first job as a waitress in a nice restaurant. At the night before my first day.I was too excited to go to sleep and as a result,I got up late in the morning.I threw on my clothes and rushed over to the restaurant.
In a great hurry,I didn't hear clearly the head waiter's instruction that we should go into the kitchen through one door and out from the other. So when I took two plates of eggs and bacon and an orange juice out to the restaurant,I went straight towards the wrong door and collided with another waiter coming in!
Worst of all was that I wore a pair of smart shoes but with high heels! A few hours later I was in agony yet had no time to change them. By the time we finished serving dinner at about 10:30 I was completely exhausted. Nevertheless, I learnt something through my experience.

My first job as at a fancy hotel as waiter and junior manager. Basicly it was just a title nothing special and at times it was boring and very much more to do than i thought.
Anyone who says it's easy and you don't get to do much. There wrong and that's probably not a waitering in a place like that.
Kudos!

My very first job was after I graduated from High School I went into the Air Force. I got good training in computers and went a few places while in. The basic training wasn't that hard. I had my schooling after that in Colorado. That is beautiful country. Then I went from there to Eglin AFB, Florida and worked in a warehouse and after work me and my friends would go water skiing since the warehouse was right there on base not too far from the warehouse. When I left there I was sent to Turkey and that was a really interesting place and that was were I met and married my husband. We left there and went to Minot AFB, North Dakota. So my first job had me in a few different places and I enjoyed them all.

Hi, My first job was a hairdresser, started of doing Saturdays and Thursday evenings and carried on doing this when I left school! I trained for almost two years afterwards but got pregnant before my final exams and was too ill to carry on! I still do the odd bit of hairdressing for my daughter and friends!
