Dieting! I need to know what are some healthy things I can eat in place of bread? Like sandwich bread. So far I've been eating pita bread but I'm getting sick of it and quick. Help!

I have been told that bread made with stelt instead of flour is a great asset to dieting. I haven't tried it yet, but I have just bought a bread making machine and I hope to bake some at the weekend. I believe the stelt can be purchased in the health food shops. Almost everything I eat has to go between two slices of bread, so hopefull I will like the stelt bread.

Sorry alexadria37 don't mean to be picky, but I think that it is spelt flour you are talking about, well that's what it's called here in Australia anyway. Unless you're talking about something completely different that I haven't heard of. You can also buy spelt pasta for those who cannot have wheat products.

Thanks for correcting me missytia. At least I now know what to ask for when I go to buy it. Much appreciated.

I have now become a diet expert. So I wanted to answer you to this one. Bread is healthy depending on the amount you eat. A person with a lot of weight to loose can eat 2 slices upto 3 times a week. A person with a few kilos to loose can eat upto 4 slices a day! Take good care of the carbohydrates you consume during the day. For example if you have some cereal in that particular day then do not have bread. Instead of the bread have fruits or low calorie yoghurts.

Dont you have rice flour bread there. In my country, we have some thing called KURAKKAN. Its a grain. We call it Brown bread here. That bread is made for diabetic patients. Even though it is not VERY tasty, one can have it once in a way.

Hi blogyourself... Is there any particular reason why you are replacing bread? eg: can't have wheat/gluten etc.... If you just want an alternative to bread and pita bread, you could try using tortillas. You can get these in a variety of flour, corn and rice. You could also try mountain bread or lavish bread which is flat bread and you could also use these as wraps. You could also check in the cripsbread section of your supermarket and get crispbreads such as Ryvita, Cruskits, Sao's etc..... they usually come in light, fat free varieties also. I hope I have given you some yummy alternatives you can try. Good luck with your diet.

Why not make your own bread and use healthy stuff instead, maybe but some carrots in, it makes the bread really jucy and nice. You can also use fibres and stuff !
