Alleged racist abuse directed at Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother sparked thousands of complaints to media watchdogs yesterday, an early day motion in the Commons and calls for the broadcaster to intervene.
The media regulator Ofcom yesterday received 7,600 complaints from viewers concerned that a group including Jade Goody and her boyfriend Jack Tweed, glamour model Danielle Lloyd and former S Club 7 singer Jo O'Meara were targeting Shetty.
There is a discrepancy as to whether she was called a “p*ki” or a c*nt. The word was bleeped. Either way, apparently the house members are “targeting” her. But then, that’s what these shows are all about. Thoughts?

I live in Canada and do not get the channel that Big Brother is on. I read about this earlier on a friend's blog though and my friend was one of the people that complained. Even if the show is supposed to be about name calling etc, I still would find it offensive and switch it off. I do not believe racism should be tolerated.

It only shows the hollowness of that particular group. They have only exposed their inability to find any other way to get her out of the house. It is heartening to find out that so many people have complained to Ofcom about the remarks. I think we should not generalise the issue. In every country we have some elements who do not make others proud of them. And these are only them.
Overall I am also bit concerned about the sudden rise of such cases. Hopefully autorities will take necessary action in this regard.

Clearly shows the emptyspace in the programme which is nothing for any. How dare so called glamor model danielle make a comment to the nation. where is humanvalue of UK gone. so much talk about humanright humanright .. now where is it?
I think we should promote those programme in tv which atleast should gives education value to the people and the sponser should take care of these things.

Targeting a person on a show nay be because he or she has some bad nature ar abt the few things that you dont like abt him, but racism cannot be tolerated.

it looks like the Europeans have a poor culture and do not know how to behave. They think too much about themselves.
