The Sims Online is a separate game that is/was available for purchase (i'm not sure if they're still selling it or not). It's not as popular as it once was, however, so I'm not sure how much activity still goes on in their game world. However, there is an alternative ( http://www.there.com ) that is free to play. I'm looking at signing back up for that myself, so if you decide to give it a try, let me know!
