If you could time travel..., go to the past or the future?

If you were given the opportunity to travel through time, just once, would you rather go to the past or the future? and why?
i would like to in the past. so many mistakes... want to correct them all..

I'd go into the future by 100 years.
I realize it's a risk because who know what I'd find.
But I am an optimist and I have faith that mankind will have solved many of the problems we have today.

I think the past is a safer place to go, but I would rather go to the future. Just to see what we as human beings can become -- hopefully I would be pleasantly surprised. Of course knowing my luck, I'd "blink" into the future right at the start of World War 5 or something.
I appreciate the interesting question.
