living together before marriage

They say that you never truly know a person until you get to stay with him/her under one roof. What is your opinion regarding two people moving in together before they're married. This is nothing new to the Western culture so I want to know the opinions of those who belong to a more conservative background.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with live in relationships, just that the two people shuld understand that it may bring a lot of pain. One more thing is that one should understand that although they are not legally binded with each other but they still has to understand their resposbilities

I do not think there is inherently anything wrong with living together, but I do not think it is a requirement for truly getting to know someone. You can do that with dating if you pay attention. The trouble I have with living together is that there is no real committment. No big deal, except very often before long, there are kids in the picture. Then the split occurs and the children are the ones hurt. That's my big beef with living together.
