For the first time in history, umarried women are the majority

Apparently being a single woman in America is the popular way to be. A new study just announced that unmarried women are now 51% of the population.
Why do you think this is? Is it because women are more successful today and don't feel the need to have a man take care of them?
Is it because men are less willing to get married now than in the past?
If you're a single girl, how do you feel? Do you think it's better to be single or married?
How do you feel if you're a man? Relieved to not have to "buy the cow to get the milk?" I totally hate that saying, but you know what I mean.

I think that alot of what is going on is a shift in power and change in paradigm.
I have always said that what passes for the "traditional" family is nothing like what nature had in mind!
For and example of what nature intended, look at elephants. The women hang together and raise th children. one male is allowed to hang around everyonce in a while, and male offspring are forced out of the herd after they hit pubery. This arrangement has worked well for them for cnturies because there was no religious mandate that women be powerless, and no laws were made to enforce the religious mandate.
Now that women are freed from that backward way of thinking, balance is returning to societies that have never had it. I think we will see MOST people remaining single, with women raising children as single partnes. The women will form support "villages" and that will become the norm. Earningpwer of women will grow, and that will lead to changes in how laws are made and what entertainment is available. I see the day without the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition!
