Mental blocks!!

Why do I have such a mental block about this one thing?
When we have finished dinner I always wash the dishes and practically every single time I forget to wash the cast iron frying pan which is on the oven. I always have to wash it the next day before i use it.
I do not understand why i have a mental block about this, as i will wash other things that are on the oven. It might have to do with the fact that i like to heat it up b4 i wash it as to preserve the seal on it.
Does anyone else have something that they always forget to do no matter how hard they remind themselves that they will do it this time?

It really gets to me when I put something by the stairs that needs to go either up or down but I forget to take it a hundred times!

maybe it is because it is on the oven Tanika, but I also think that when you wash you, must be you do not check around the stove or oven, I always wash around the oven as this used to happen to me but then I saw my mother and she did it like that and then I got used to it so I do not have a mental block and forget to wash something else that may be on the oven.
