Do we need an "Edit your post" option on Mylot?

I have just posted a discussions about Starbucks not supporting our troops. It turns out, it was simply a chain email rumor and is in fact untrue! Same goes for Target not supporting our troops. But, people don't really read through all of the responses, and I've gotten so many posts bashing Starbucks for a post that I made that was untrue. Had I known it wasn't true, I definitely wouldn't have posted it. I have looked through the dicussion and wished that I could go in to "edit" it and add at the bottom that it was found to be untrue, so that no one else would read this horrible story that I've unknowingly passed on. ;/ So this raises another option. Most "forums" have the option where you may edit your post. Maybe they could do it like Ebay's descriptions and not let them change what they wrote, but add to it. Maybe, the post would be at top, and under that, "User added this information on 1/17/07 - This turns out to be untrue. This was an email hoax, a chain rumor and has no affiliation with Starbucks." I would love that feature right now. ;/

We had a similar story going around about Tim Horton's in Canada not supporting our own troops that is bogus. I would personally really like an edit option in Mylot discussions as on occasion I will typo and not catch it or like you, would like to add an addendum to the bottom of one of my original discussions. I've seen a few people ask about this, perhaps it will be something Mylot considers in the future? Cheers!

I truly understand what you meant and how you feel so bad about this kind of thing to happened and yet you can't do anything to correct it...Its truly helpless. I do have the similar incidents happened to remarkable 1 of my previous post..I was misspell a word in my discussion topic as by the time I post that topic am was on the phone. The worst thing to the mistakes was that the topic happened to be one of the most responses discussion:( I really wish I can edit it instead of I need to individually apologized for my mistakes for whoever that doesn't get my actual meanings and luckily most were so understandings..When happened in such a way its normal we will think how good if mylot have that sort of "edit" or "delete" features but when you think deeper you will that its not a good ideas to place that edit features to our discussions. That will simply causing those members who take their efforts and time to responses to the posts become meaningless as it will surely be difference meanings after you edit it. If you delete it the all their hard works turn out to be delete together as well and thats the worst and really not fair for those who make the responses. I think the best way to do it is implements a features for "remarks", "special note" or " update" in order to let us to make any necessary corrections should we found any mistakes after we post it.maybe they make it in such a way that the poster user name, date and time to be appears automatically after each corrections. I think that will simply look more professional. Anyway this was just my personal view with regards to this topic and I hope you wouldn't mind that nagging so much onto it:)

It's great that you posted a sort of recant of a prior post. They should have an edit option for already posted writings. I'm guilty of passing these "chain" forwards on myself. I know there are web-sites where you can look into these stories. I believe one is Snopes.com and an other is something like (?) Truth.com. Or, before posting, you can try googling to see about validity of stories.

I definitely agree, you should also be able to change the heading at times. Sometimes you start a discussion about one topic but it ends up being a discussion about something related. An edit feature would definitely be appreciated!!!!

Oh this was the change i am always expecting from Mylot. Editing our posted discussions which go wrong due to some typing mistake need to be corrected but when i look at another aspect of this then i stop thinking about it. Its that suppose you post a discussion and after that you come to know that the sense you wanna put into it had gone wrong but by that time several people answer to that post then it would be wrong to edit it. All the effort of other people will go in vain because they didn't knew that the post u posted had a mistake in it. This is on reason i think Mylot authorities are not providing this facility.

that is a good idea, i would love to have that feature also, because after i posted a discussion i realized that i left some information out of it and wish i could add to it. I also wish i could delete some of my older discussions also.

I think it would be nice to have, that way if you do notice or find out something is diffrent then you can change it. I don't think it should count as an earnings post unless it's a huge change (and there for a reasion) I know there are many time I type things in, look at it and think it's okay but after I send it I figure out it's not. So I would love to have an edit option.

Yes you are absolutely right that an edit and delete button would be good to have. Sometimes you get unneccassary thrashing and that is never fair!

Agreed. Because of that Starbucks discussion? "someone" gave me a negative rating. And others followed suit. When it wasn't my fault! But, my rating went from 9 yesterday, to 8 today. All because of some stupid email. I don't think the quality of the discussion had anything to do with their reasoning for rating a negative. The negative ratings.... people sometimes go over-board with it and other people lose out just because some other idiot didn't agree with him/her. Those people suck. .

How can you have that option. for example you have posted some thing and now you are trying to edit that post for which you have recieve also the responses then what will you do of that responses. so i would suggest to preview your post before posting it on mylot.

We could have that option very easily. As I said in my post? They could have it like Ebay's description. When you "revise" an item, you can't take away the things you've had on there. It would be a little foot note at the bottom saying "Seller added this information on 1-18-07." Since most people don't read through all of the replies. =)

I do need one! I need it not because I wanna change my opinion, but because sometimes there are some mistakes in my responses, mainly in the grammer,or some words are lost. sometimes the mistakes may lead to an opposite meaning of my response. Mylot does have a different interface and style from other discussion forums, and it took me about one week to get familliar with it. Now I am use to post responses here, but really feel unconvenient uable to edit my own discussions and responses. wish another innovation in mylot!!

Well we wish so..Thats so true..even i have made some really sill mistakes here on mylot ..some spelling mistakes ,some mistakes in posting, sometimes replying incorrectly just because i perceived the topic in completely different sense. i just wish mylot gives us an option to change/edit/add to any of our responses ,posts, discussions etc It would make mylot a whole lot beautiful and easy i guess

we do require an edit option as we might make some mistakes while putting the post and at times we might need to update the data also
