My husband left on his snowmobile last night to meet up with some of his buddies. He's been upset all winter because we haven't had any snow. We finally have enough snow and last night was his first chance to get on his sled. About an hour after he left, he called me at home and said that his sled caught fire and told me where he was. The kids and I jumped in the van and when we got there, there were fire trucks, cops, and firemen running around. His entire sled went up in flames and nothing was left but the metal frame. John was okay, that God. He was really mad over losing his sled and I had to jump his case and told him that I'm really glad that I didn't lose my husband and the kids didn't lose their father. I wonder why he didn't realize that at the time. Anyways, something caught fire under the motor while he was riding it and it just burst into flames. He was able to jump off of it. He burned his hands trying to get the fire out but he didn't even notice that his hands were burned until after we got home. I think he was in shock and had too much adrenaline going. The firemen and police were all very kind. (One fireman had a strong odor of alcohol on him and this really pissed me off, I'll put that in another post though!) Anyways, I just thought I would post his little mishap, please feel free to comment. I put photos of the sled before it caught fire and then again after, on my profile if you want to see them. Click the photo to see it enlarged. I'm now starting to think that these snowmobiles are more dangerous than I thought!

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's accident. Thank God he is all right. Sorry about his havd. Sure could hace been much worse. How much snow did you have? We had about eight inches of snow in Southcentral Kansas where I live. Well Southwest right on the South Central part. I am glad we finally got enough to do the farmers here some good.

We have not had snow all winter until about 3 weeks ago then we got hit pretty hard. It's been really cold too. John's just estatic, he has another sled to ride so he's out and about again. His hands are healing just fine. 8 inches is alot of snow for Kansas isn't it?
