Do you own or rent your home?

We are finally in a home of our own after years of renting. We've dealt with our share of dishonest landlords and inconsiderate neighbors over the years. We love our home because it's cozy and warm. We have neighbors very close on either side and very little yard, but we are close to stores and can walk to the lake. Overall, we are very happy with our home. Do you own your home or rent? Do you like where you live? If not, what is your dream home? If you love where you live, tell us why.

Congratulations on owning your first home! It's very exciting, I know. But I also know how scary and intimidating it can be at first. After years of renting and living in an apartment with all kinds of losers and "party animals" as neighbors, I bought my house about 10 years ago. At first it is scary. Even when you are well within your budget and can afford the payments, it's strange to all of a sudden not have the comfort of being able to complain to a landlord if something goes wrong. All of a sudden you are totally responsible for everything... But the feeling of pride in your home and your accomplishments in owning it will make up for the anxiety. It sounds as if you've already grown to appreciate your home and have made it "your own" . Enjoy it!

I am living with my parents. My father made this home where we live when I was 5 years old. I am planning to stay with my parents in the future also. I believe in joint family than independent family.

Me and my boyfriend just bought our first house after years of renting. We are so happy about finally owning a home. We were sick of noisy neighbors and crappy apartments that we couldn't do anything with. Now we have a beautiful re-habbed 3 bedroom home with a nice yard and we couldn't be happier! Congrads on your house purchase, too. I know it is an exciting time in your life!

I am currently renting. We have not found the home for us yet. I have to say that I do and don't like the place I live now. I like that it is big enough for my family and the school that my kids go to is great. I don't like the location. It is not a bad place it is just off a busy street and no real front yard. My landlord lives a few houses down and he walks by all the time looking into the windows from the sidewalks, annoying. I have gotten to the point where I either stare right back or wave and he looks away. My dream home would have to have acres for my kids to play. I would want at least two bathrooms cause one just doesn't due. It has to have at least 1500 sqf.

Yes, finally after 21 years. Unfortunately it took my 1st husband's life insurance after he passed away to do it. I had 3 kids to take care of and felt buying a home was a good investment for us at the time and them in the future. We love our home. We live in the country on 5 acres of land. We have a small farm and it is quiet and tucked away from the road. Our neighbors are each on 5 acres too so we are not too close to each other but not far away either. The town is only 8 miles away so it is not too bad when we need to go there. Actually, my dream home would be a bigger farm or ranch with a few extra bedrooms and a work room for my business but I am happy here too. :)

We have been very fortunate. We have been married for 28 years and never rented. We have always owned. We and the mortgage company own this one. We are working hard to get it paid off as quickly as possible. We are very concerned with the economy and feel a strong need to make extra payments on it. Doesn't it feel good to own? Glad you seen to have found your dream home. I do love where I live. The people are great in our community. Eveyone(well, almost) stick together in time of crisis.

I am leasing to own. It is not the ideal place for me. I have never been to much of a city person. And well lets face, the outskirts of Houston are still to much city for me. I want to build a nice home on a large plot of land. I want horses and chickens and all that other country girl stuff. lol

We are currently renting, but we hope to have our own house in about a year or two; that is our goal. It does stink living where we live. We are lucky though becuase we have really great landlords. Occassionally, they can be a pain in the butt, but, for the most part, they are REALLY good and helpful whenever we need anything. Our apartment is also in town, so we can walk to wherever we need to go, whether it be the grocery store or the post office. However, when we do get around to buying a home, I would like it to be in the country.

Do your research. Usually the best time to buy a home is when the housing market is in the drain and the rental market is strong. But don't let that stop you. See my post later in this discussion.

congradulations on your new home, it looks nice!! I love those trees in front. There is nothing in the world then the feeling of owning your own home. My husband and I rented for about a year before purchasing our first home. We paid that off early and with the extra money we bought some land. With that land and the land that came with the home we had about 15 acres. Then two years ago we made our third purchase and purchased a city home. So now we have our country home, our city home, and open land, with a little bit of woods and about an acre pond with fishing. I couldn't be happier. Life has been good to me and I feel very blessed!! Oh, I also wanted to comment on the pictures you had on the side, your dog and kitties look so cute!!!

We actually bought our home at a very young age we were in our early twenties. We have lived here for 13 years now. I just love it. It is small and cozy but it keeps out the winter and is refreshing in the summer. We live in the mountains of Colorado so it is just beautiful all year long. Congratulations on getting your first home I hope it brings you years of happiness.

Presenty i live in a rented apartment but i do not enjoy staying in an apartment as their are many limitations to it.I woud definatly like to have my own home so that i can organize it and call friends and have fun.
