Does anyone know what ''ebay'' stands for

I was just thinking about, how did they come up with the name ''ebay''. Is it someones last name ? What do u guys think?

Originally the site was owned by the Echo Bay Technology group. When they tried to register the domain name "Echobay.com", it was already taken. So they shortened the name to eBay.com

Interesting to see it had a real reason for the name. My guess was gonna be the obvious "e" for electronic and then bay perhaps like a garage bay...LOL Ok, so I'm not brilliantly gifted in marketing skills!
