Congrats!! I am a first time mom of a 6 month old boy. He is teething with his bottom teeth and I am going through waht you are going through. Normally he's a dream, very happy, sleeps through the night, now, he's whiny and crying for no reason (of course now I know it's his teeth)and waking up 3 or 4 times a night. Here's what I am using, I don't know if you've tried this, but it's called Gentle Naturals--it's 100% Natural Homeopathic Formula. It has no taste and can be given every 2 hours. I also use the teethers in fridge and frozen wash clothes with knots. I use Motrin, because it seems to work quicker than Tylenol. However, I use Motrin as a last resort, when I know he is just can't take the pain anymore. I've heard so many horror stories about giving babies Tylenol and Motrin messing with their liver functions. Good Luck.

I have 4kids and when teething came my mother in - law taught me this one, beats everithing else.Just give them a good massage, bathe them, dress them.Wash your hands clean and with cold water on your hands running . Then press hard on the gum where the teeth is trying to come out.Baby will give a hard cry, like they will want to bite your fingure off and that's it, use a cloth around the fingure,if teeths are out. After that ,they will go through a deep , long sleep. Worked with all four of my kids. Good luck.

try knotting wetting and freezing a baby washcloth then let the baby chew that. It helps my son a bit. also Motrin for when it's bad. that stuff is a miracle. oh, and earth's best makes a good barley teething biscut.

I rubbed table salt on my kids gums when they were teeth the salt would numb the gums and at the same time the rough texure will make the gum thiner so the tooth can break through.I hope you find something that works.

My baby boy is five and a half months old and is starting to cut through two of his top teeth. My beautiful angel that usually sleeps through the night now wakes every two hours, and I am one sleep deprived mummy. But it will pass. I was just about to start a discussion about this topic when I found this thread. Thanks for all the advice everyone, I'll be taking it all into account...

You can get teething rings that you put in the fridge and the coolness gives a bit of relief. ( I tried veggies; carrot, apple in the fridge but then had to keep checking they didn't get lumps of them stuck in their throats, so I gave up with the veggies.) Bonjella does work but my first son got 'addicted' to it so I stopped using that too. My wisdom teeth go up and down every now and again so I'm still teething. I use a tiny amount of oil of cloves rubbed on the gums but it tastes yukky and I'm not sure if swallowing it is a good idea, it could make a little one nauseous. Goodluck

Give your baby something to chew on. This eases the pressure on the gums and if it is something cold it provides more relief, e.g. a frozen banana, an ice cube wrapped in a clean cloth, a rubber teething toy. You can also rub your baby’s gums with your finger. Give her something cold to drink. This will not only relieve the pain but replace the fluids lost through excessive drooling. If the pain is bad, give her some medication after consulting your doctor.

Relief for teething: frozen teething ring (do NOT use once the tooth breaks thorugh the gums) wet washcloth rub baby's gums with your clean finger or a cool spoon use orajel, zilactin or baby anbesol teething gel give baby tylenol or ibuprofen zweibeck toast (messy but most love it and the rough texture really helps with teething pain...just check with your pediatrician as some have specific age requirements for zweibeck) (I'm an R.N.)
