Finding Housing for the Disabled

Around here it seems any housing that is listed as for disabled is always a senior/disabled building. Does anyone know where to find out more? The other housing places that go by income a lot of times are dangerous areas it seems anymore. I have lived in them because it met my income guidelines but did not feel safe and if something did happen it would have been hard to get the help I needed. I just think its unfair and in a way discrimination. If I was over 65 I'd have no problem getting accepted. I have news younger people are disabled too. Thanks in advance.

Oh I know how that goes. We have many in this area that are "55 and over" only areas and those are the ones that have for disabled.
You might want to check with the local branch of the American Disabilities Association. They might know of some in the area, the same with Social Security since they know that ones under 55 get disabled as well. You can also check with Department of Family and Childrens. Often times they might know of ones that offer specials or allows some apartments in their complex for discounts to disabled people.
I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions otherwise. I don't live in the area so not able to help as much as some who might be up there. I wish you luck with it.

What type of disability do you have? I know the NMSS (national multiple sclerosis society) maintains some buildings here in the Delaware Valley; perhaps you can check with local chapters as well as your state and county vocational services for some leads. good luck!
