People with health insurance often skip doctor's visits unless there's an emergency, which is a big mistake. Personally, both myself and my husband have a lot of health problems, so not having insurance for us would be very bad. If I added up how much I would pay for the medicines I have to take per month without insurance, it would cost more than my entire month's pay. *shudders*

Ummm... that first part of my comment should have been "People without health insurance often skip doctor's visits..." I was up past my bedtime last night, so I must have been sleep-typing.

For me & my family it is a neccessity. My daughter is on medicaid. So her healthcare is 100% paid for, at 5 months old she has had 3 intestional surgeries & 1 surgery to her stomach. Plus even though you can get health care without health insurance, some (but not all) places won't give you the same quailty if you had health insurance.

It's better to have it then not. If something really bad happens to you and you don't have it you could be paying for doctor bills forever. We have it but it's not the greatest but it does pay a little bit on the bill so we aren't so overwhelmed

If you don’t obtain health insurance, you are gambling with your health.Lack of health insurance causes 18,000 unnecessary deaths every year. Adults without health insurance have a 25% greater chance of dying from a disease or condition than those with health insurance.

I think its overpriced, but I keep paying because I have kids. I know a lot of people who don't have it and they go to the hospital but I prefer having a family doctor, not a random emergency worker.

It is protection, just like any other form of insurance. You need it in case things do go wrong, then you'll have choices

Personally I find it too expensive, too. I am relatively young and in good health, so I don't really find the need for it. If I ever get hurt, I'll just figure out a payment plan or something.

I prefer to have insurance. Now I have no insurance so when I get sick or anything, I have to go to the doctor. I pay quite a bit of money for the visit and also for the medication. I wish I had insurance.
