I live IN a tourist attraction - I think it's supposed to be the biggest after London - in the summer, at the height of the season in Cambridge, every fifth person you pass speaks English!

Funny enough on my way down from my Scotland trip I went through Norfolk, I stopped off at Sheringham and Cromer. The nearest tourist attraction to me is the London Eye which is about 20 miles away from me. I have to admit although it's virtually on my doorstep I've never been up on the wheel. I don't like London so I probably go there once or twice a month max to go into the famous Leicester Square to catch a movie. You have Sandringham and I have Buck Palace and that's one place I also have never been to or have any intention of going to, royal palaces and anything royal do not interest me in the slightest.

I live in Kildare close to the Japanese Gardens. They were created between 1906 and 1910 by Tassa Eida and his son Minoru. The gardens are situated in the grounds of the National Stud (another tourist attraction) and are supposed to symbolise the "Life of Man" - the journey of a soul from Oblivion to Eternity. The Gardens have been carefully preserved as a part of Ireland's heritage and are regarded as the finest Japanese Gardens in Europe. The Japanese Gardens receive over one hundred thousand visitors each year ensuring their place on the list of Ireland's favourite gardens.

Okay .. I've finally found a topic I don't think I can answer .. other than looking at old buildings I really cannot think of any 'proper tourist' attraction anywhere near me .. Sandringham is probably my nearest 'real' tourist attraction .. and of course the beautiful unspoilt coastline that you have in Norfolk .. Cambridgeshire (UK) just has the Cambridge University Colleges and Ely Cathedral (finest romanesque style church in Europe) .. but buildings aren't really what I would call tourist attractions .. I simply can't think of anywhere I could go locally ...

The closest one to me is a historic Civil War town called Gettysburg. The battle that was fought here for 3 days was considered the turning point of the war for the Union. I live about 10 minutes from there. We have an amusement park about 1 hour from here called Hersheypark, which is where they make Hershey's chocolate. I live about an hour and 15 mintues from Baltimore, which has a lot to do, like professional sports. There are a lot of fun things to do in a close distance to my home.

I've got Sedona - a beautiful tourist town in the red rock area of Arizona - and the Grand Canyon. Both of which I've been to. The Grand Canyon isn't really all that impressive, as far as I'm concerned. But Sedona is gorgeous, and has some amazing restaurants.

Well I don't know if we can say our city, but I live in Kentucky and the nearest tourist attraction would be Church Hill Downs. It's where the Kentucky Derby is held every May. For those that know about it, it's the first of three HUGE Horse races. People from all over the world come to my town on Derby Day, including Celebs. I like to leave town when it hits. I don't like the traffic or the noise.
