I have a 8 year old yorkie and I trained him from a pup. I stayed with it and now he acts on command. I never took any classes, i was just consistent with teaching him. My friend has a dog that is not potty trained, will run out the house when the door open and the dog wants to play and run around the neighborhood. They get so frustrated. I ask why didn't you train your dog or give him at least basic commands, she said she didn't have the time, NOW she having a hard time and have to work around the dog, Can't open the door, Has to make sure he goes out, Will even wake up in the middle of the night if the dog has to go out. My question is, when purchasing a dog, do you train them and stay consistent with them (If so what are some of the things you have trained your dog to do) Or do you give up and deal with the headaches like my friend?

We have 2 pugs and they are partially trained. They do some things on command, but they are very stubborn and when they don't want to do something, they don't. Like your friend I always say I'm going to work with them more, but never seem to get around to it. I really should.
