Pls help me for those who have experience having a shih-tzu as a pet. She has been eating her own poo since the day she arrived!! I have tried many alternatives such as tablets, scolding her, punishing her!! I even tried to ignore her! Pls help, my whole house stinks because she keeps playing around with her POO, carrying it to other places in the house and eats some of it..

When I first got my shih-tzu (Tiki), I noticed that she was eating her poo and it was very upsetting to me. I spoke with my vet about it and she said it was common. Really? She suggested I get some tablets called "Excel" at Petsmart and give her one every day. It worked and now she no longer eats her poo. I don't know what it is or why it worked, but it did.

well if your that depsprite then you should try bringing her out of the house more often to do her stuff. Because I have a 2 year old shih tzu and she did that once, the reason was because no one could let her out and she didn't want to upset us by pooing in the house so she ate it. Some dogs are trained to poo outside (like my dog) so you should take her out regularly. The reason your dog is probably pooing in your house is because she dosen't get enough time out side, so she has no choice but to poo inside. But she also doesn't want to upset you so she eats it. So punishing her would not be the best thing to do , it would just be confusing her by her trying not to upset you. ...So hope this works out!!! -Janet
