Spending time with family is like being kidnapped by history?

Being around family is like being kidnapped by your past. If you came from a family where one of your parents was abusive but you still want to see the rest of your family for the holidays, it is especially hard. During the holidays we are so busy that we don't realize that part of the stress is caused by those snippets of memories that playback in our minds. Do you feel spending more time with your family causes almost a post traumatic syndrome situation?

The hardest part of family reunion is seeing the persons you don't want to see for the rest of your life. But you have no control of it, since it is obviously a reunion. Just enjoy the moment and never give yourself a chance to spoil it.
