Battle Royale, American Remake.

I was just wondering what everyone though about the American remake of this movie that is being made? Do you think it will be good? Who do you think will star in it? I honestly think that they are wasting their time making an American version as it won't be anywhere near as good, I will watch it but I will be watching it with doubt in my mind and will most likely be very critical on it. As for who will star in it, I have no idea. I would prefer to have some unknown actors for the kids as if it is done right it could potentially start their careers in acting for them. So what do you all think?

I thought Battle Royale was a good film which spawned an okay sequel....and although personally I do not think an American remake is a good thing personally, it will bring the story to more people who will then look for the Japanese version. As for who should be in it, I agree some nobodies would be cool with maybe one or two big names.

I love Battle Royale, an ingenious idea for a film! I have a bad feeling that an American version will totally kill it. I can almost gurantee the American version won't be half as good. There's just something special about Japanese movies.

Hello.. I'm a battle royale fan. Uhm.. An american version of the film never came into my mind. For me, the japanese version is really good, and I can't think of any actors who are suitable for the roles. I don't think the american version will be as good as the japanese version either. I think that it's best to remain as just japanese because it's suitable for them, for as I have observed, jap people have the tendency to react highly of certain situations, they become impulsive (was my use of word correct? Damn!), which makes the film intense or something.. That's what I think... Hahaha... It's not that I hate america, but I just like the jap film as how it is made. Why need for a remake when the original was very well-made? So, NO REMAKE!!

Not totally a remake... but the idea of the explosive necklace is used in the movie "The Condemned". Only this time, it is an explosive anklet. Seroiusly, Americans have no creativity. If "Mean Girls" had 1/10 of the violence of "Battle Royale", it would have been better. ALthough it might become straight-to DVD.

Well it'll be guaranteed to be cheesy, more than likely everyone will look like super models, and the "teenagers" will be played by actors in their mid-to-late 20s. The acting will be horrible, so will the dialogue. I did read on arrowinthehead.com that the american version might be on hold after the shootings at Virginia Tech. So it could be awhile before we see anything.

I hate how studios in hollywood remake good foreign movie like japanese horror movies and other good movies. Often are remakes terrible.

I'd heard that the Americans were supposed to be re-making Battle Royale, and hoped it was a vicious rumour. Aren't they bored of ruining Asian films? The originals are fantastic, America re-makes them and ruins them, then no-one bothers to see the original, but loads of 12 year olds see the re-make. There is no way that this film will work in America, as the society in America is not right. This is the sort of thing that the Western world believes 'could' happen in Eastern Asia, but it won't work in the States.
