Interviewing someone for a position within your business is one of the most important things you could ever do. Pick the right person and the company will benefit; however if you pick the wrong person then disaster can follow. Be focused and watch out for the detail. This means that during the interview you are watching for tiny signs as to whether the interview process is going well or not.Is the person being interviewed fidgety? If they are fidgety, is this because of nerves or is it because they are not fully being honest with you? Are they actually listening to you or are they merely thinking about what they will say next instead of actually focusing on you? How are they dressed? Are they smart enough or too smart? Do they look at their watch or do they shy away from eye contact? Open the door for the interviewee.his doesn’t mean just letting them into the room! This means that you allow opportunities during the interview for the person being interviewed to show themselves. If suitable they will fill that gap in the interview with their character and knowledge base and give you an indication of who they are and what they would bring to the company. Do your homework on the job being offered. This is a good idea if you are a human resources interviewer rather than someone actually managing the area that has the vacancy. perhaps take a day doing that job yourself to really find out what the requirements are so that you will have a better understanding of the factors to watch out for during the interview. Choosing the right person for the job is vital and keeping these employees happy and loyal does start at the interview.
