I was watching the view this morning and they had showed a clip from american idol - which i had watched but i missed the part they had happen to show. It showed this young man who was being ridiculed by simon not only for his singing voice , dancing , but also for his apperence. The young man had a facial deformaty. Simon - of course said some horrible things but paula happen to tell him he was fine and then as soon as he left bust into laughter. Have the judges now forgotten that the cameras are on? rosie had said that the public has gotten to the point where we find it funny to make fun of those unfortunite. Is this what the world is comming to? What are your views on this matter - did you happen to watch the clip? Do you find that american idol has gotten to the point where they do not care what they say for entertainment value? Is this really ok for our children to watch- to see a grown man making fun of others for personal satisfaction?

Sadly, that's a pretty accurate look at how the media business works. If you go out for any sort of singing or acting gig, you're judged on your looks. The media has a set standard of what's considered attractive and people in the public eye are expected to match it. What Simon says is no worse than what actual record labels and casting directors say to hopefuls.
