People are starting to think about the 2008 presidential election. This brings to mind the fact that our current president is ineligible for another term due to the constitutional limit prohibiting more than two terms. What are your thoughts on repealing this ammendment?

I think he is the proof the law still needs to be in effect. As an outsider, i an glad he can't run again, holding thewholeworld in ransom to his fundamentalist christian ideals. Now don't get me wrong, i have nothing against christianity. What I do find wrong is someone in power letting people with a known agenda tell a whole country how to live. since he has become president the educational system in the US has come under attack by these bible thumping fools who think they have the right to say what goes on in a science class. Kids are actually being taught tht evolution and geology are lies simply because it isn't in the bible! child abuse is on the rise because thebible says its ok to beat your kids with a rod. People are being discriminated against because they are gay, or atheist. The klan is on the rise. Its time you got someone in power who isn't a "good ol boy" from the south

i think it is a good idea if he is a good leader of the country, he should continue to lead us toward the right direction until we vote for someone better than him. also we should shorten 4 years a term to 2 years term.

I think that 2 terms is long enough. Otherwise they will get too powerful in office. I would not repeal this ammendment.

I think 8 years is enough for anyone to be in office. I think they should limit these Senators and Congressmen as well to it. All of the political offices that are voted in should be limited. That way we get fresh blood into the offices. New ideas, beliefs and if someone really sucks we only have to deal with them for a few years not for thirty or more.

I think it could pose an interesting scenario. I'm not sure how I actually feel, so I will present some pros and cons.
Pros: Freedom of Speech. Yes I know this sounds odd, but restricting the choice of votes actually reduces your freeom of speech in who you want to lead this country.
It also allows for continuity. There are times where it would be more prudent to keep the same decisionmaker in office. Wartime and times of crisis being the first two to come to mind.
Cons: Checks and balances. This could lead to an unchecked leader if voted into office for too long.
Dominance: One party dominance never works. Ever.

The Presidential office has the longest term of any office I believe. I think a total of 8 years is plenty, as we can see know, there are plenty of people who get fed up after that.
I can't even imagine anyone WANTING to be President for longer than that.
