These contradictions are products of the will to impress. (",)
They are all rooted in the social notion that guys should provide for the financial needs of a family, therefore, the one that earns most, matters a lot.
In the case of the girls, there is also a prevalent idea that younger women are more liked by men. Thus, they deny their real age.
