I think I have a short list. Endless Love, The Tenth Man, The Color Purple, Cry Freedom, and maybe Without Feathers. These are not necessarily my favorite books, but ones that I think other people would enjoy immensely. What books would you give?

I know some other people who choose books by the title alone. it is sometimes fun, but occasionally, you get things that are way outside your normal reading.

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson would be a nice book to give to an old friend. It's very inspiring and you can always read that book again and again.

'something wicked this way comes" is a classic Ray Bradbury story and one of my favorites as a child. I absolutely love that book. Thanks for reminding me about it.

I'd give Sophie Kinsella's book (e.g. 'Shopaholic and sister', 'Can you keep a secret?'). They're funny and you can relax during a reading of them.
