For all you bug lovers, Bugguide.net is an excellent resource. It's very handy for identifying insects and spiders that you've found out in the garden, in the house, or elsewhere. There are experts who make a little extra time to take a look at the photos people send in, in an attempt to identify them. Feel free to sign up and upload your bug photos for identification!

Oh, if only the internet and that site had been around when I was a kid, lol! I went through a phase, as lots of kids probably do, of loving to catch and collect any bugs around the yard that I could. Looking back it was probably pretty cruel to catch and keep them, but when you're a kid you don't really think about those things :/ But it was always fun to go out and try to catch lightning bugs.. I loved doing that, putting them in a jar and watching them light up! ^_^

Indeed! I used to go about catching potato bugs (rollypollies, sow bugs, whatever you'd like to call them), but could never figure out what they liked to eat...which was a problem. _

This would be very helpful for people who think any black spider is a black widow and any other spider is a tarantula. With so many people able to take photos with their phones and email them, now anyone can find out if the creature facing them is dangerous or not. They need a similar site for snakes, too.
