Does anyone here know how to start a business? I have never been business-minded but lately, I have decided to put up my own own business in order to augment my income. Problem is, I know nothing about business and I only have a small capital to start with. Upon surfing the net, I caught interest in foodcarts. And now, I plan to have one, hoping it would help a little. But I am also afraid that I might not profit from it and would only lost the minimal capital I have. Please advice me on this. Thanks!

Certain factors should be considered in starting a business, like location, product, and price. For me the biggest factor is location. Are there many people in your place or at your prospective business site? Is it near schools or offices? If you find a good location, it is easier to think of the other things that should be considered. Foodcarts are in today. Franchising is ok. You could franchise a foodcart business for around 15,000 Pesos. But for a franchised foodcart business to be fully operational, I believe you need at least 50,000 Pesos. It is good that you are contemplating on putting up your own business. Who knows, maybe your business will be a hit and you could resign from your office job and just be your own boss. :) Whatever business you will put up, be sure to secure proper business permits. Visit www.dti.gov.ph to know how to get the necessary permits. Good luck! :)

I have seen a location near the university belt, and near the market. Problem is, come February we'll be moving to another place so the location I'm eying right now would be far from where we live. But I'm considering some things. Maybe I could make an arrangement. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still looking for a good location. I am currently eyeing a location near the market and the other is near the university belt. But I still have to make other researches since the location I am interested in is far from where I live.

First you have to consider is the need of the area where you plan your business to be at. Second, Food is one of the best business ever. Third, consider the traffic (people) of the place you wanted your business to put at. else everyone please add.

Cruzades, thanks. If I have found a location, do I have to ask permission to use that certain loc? From whom will I ask permission to put my stall there - the mayor or the owner of the land or both?

Normally when you wanted to start for a business, first, make sure that the place is really a commercial area, I mean, really dedicated for commerce, this varries from country to country. Secondly, secure business name, permits (mayors, etc), Tax registration (if applicable) then you're off to go. Good Luck

You should determine first the capital that you have, your hobbies and the area where you want your business to be located. MAke some feasibility study first before invensting.

Thank you. I have wanted to put up a publishing company but it needs a big capital. So I decided to put up a foodcart business instead, as a start-up. I think of franchising existing foodcart businesses just so I have a guide on how to run the business.

If you want to own a publishing company you can do it with little investment also by starting your publishing house a an online publishing house and put all the authors and writers to publish their work on youre site. There are many sites on the internet and many publishing houses where you can do a tie up to get your authors books edited and printed under your name publishing house name. They charge you by number of copies you print for the edition. Regarding foodcart business, Please send the me the details of things you want to do and amount you want to invest I can send you some information related to the working you need to do in the beginning before you actually kick off.

I want to have a hotdog foodcart in the first place, but then I am a bit afraid I might not get a good location for that. Then, I thought of a hamburger foodcart. Problem is, it seems every corner already has a hamburger outlet. Waffles came into my mind, too, but the franchise is too high. So, I thought of squidballs, kikiams, orlians, and fishballs but I am afraid I might just lose my investment because, aside from competition, I don't know where to put it. My capital is less than a 20 thousand bucks. But I really want to get into business. As for the on-line publication, how do I get started?

what's good in putting up a business is its challenge......but then whats important in a business is its location.....if the location is ok....then what you need to do is to create a marketing strategy.......for you to attract your customers...

No, I haven't started yet. I don't want to jump into decisions then regret later. I'm still on the planning stage until now. Just can't make up my mind fast enough.
