What are points?

I hope by now that you have your answer but if not then this is how I THINK it works. You get one point for every posting you make, plus additional for every response you get to a discussion you started, and the rating increases with a 'best response' plus a negative or positive rating beside any response will also affect the figures. For example I notice that my rating is higher than the number of postings I have made, and the only thing that could cause that to happen is that I have received some 'best response' plus possibly some positives. I hope I am right in what I am saying and perhaps someone can confirm and/or clarify this information. :)
