Tiggyann finally finds some gold! Whoo-hoo! :) After metal detecting on one of the local beaches for 5 minutes, I found a 14k gold necklace and cross. :) Was so incredibly happy, the chain weighs in at 17 grams and the cross weighs in at 3 grams. :) Total 20 grams of gold! :)Whoo-Hoo, krissy is happy! :) Estimated at $500.00 value, will have it appraised soon. :) Nearly paid for my detector in one find! :) krissy

You are really lucky with this Tiggyann. Way to go! Glad to see someone making money to pay for what they love to do. You really seem to enjoy doing your treasure hunting, I was never so adventurous. Good luck with more!!

If you can sell it for its appraised value I am interested to know if you really get that cash from the find. I love looking for found money that way. Congratulations.

good for you and not selling it and keeping your promise to God. Temptation is hard to resist and God is proud you kept this promise. i wish I lived close to a beach but my sister does. I live in Okla so I'd be lucky to find an arrowhead.

thanks! well this item is not for sale, in fact I made a promise to god awhile back that if I find a cross, I would keep the first one, so I am honoring that promise, but when I find more gold I will sell it and let you know! :)

That's awesome, krissy! You are very lucky finding such stuff where you could earn big bucks! $500 really worth a lot! try finsing another one, who knows it could be priceless, LOL. Better to keep that thing first and decide what to do on it but still keep finding relevant stuff and thank your metal detector! Have a nice day :)

krissy - that is awesome. The truth is that people are careless and lose things. Around touristy beaches, whether they are on the Mediterranean, Australia, Florida, Philippines, Malaysia, Caspian, Indonesia - a whole beachcombing fraternity has grown. Its fun and rewarding for beachcombers. My two boys are six and a bit and five and a bit. The younger one has really sharp eyes and finds all sorts of things - coins, toys etc. etc when we go out. The dilemma for us is whether to allow the children to keep money they found on the basis of "Finders keepers - losers weepers"? We discussed the matter at length and decided that the best thing for us to do was to train the children to hand in their finds - and together we take the money to charity. We make a big ceremony of this and they boys drop their found coins into the Collection box of a local charity. We hope that the children will learn that they earn from the value that they provide. What do you think of that! Are we doing right?

Wow! That's great and sounds like fun. Sounds like you have a very powerful detector tho. How much did it cost? I only have a cheap kid metal detector and have never tried to use it at the beach. Do you need a really powerful/expensive one to find stuff in the sand at the beach?

What a great find. I love gold the best. I wear a chain full of the placer gold I got in Alaska every day. It isnt much but it is something I love to have near me. Raw gold right from the Alaska ground. One of the best trips I ever took.
