i'm having problems with my cd-rw drive, it keeps on ejecting even if i don't press the eject button. I've been using it for around 3yrs. What could be causing this automatic eject? Is it caused by a virus? or just hardware problems?

It could be one of these reasons: 1. The eject button got stuck. 2. A virus is in your computer issuing Eject commands to the drive. 3. A hardware defect (you said you've been using it for year.) Try using the manual eject one time. It may fix the problem. If that doesn't help, try scanning your PC for viruses. If that still doesn't help, ask someone to fix it for you. =)

If the CD ejects, then I would expect that you also receive an error message or dialogue box to accompany it. The most likely one would be a message like "Please insert media with sufficient space", which would mean that the disk is not considered large enough. Assuming that the files that you are adding are within the amount of data that the disk can hold, then this would be caused by either a disk that is not compatable with your drive or the drive may need cleaning.

You should find that these are really cheap now, simply get a new one - they are easy to fit. Even better get yourself a DVD writer instead. I'm not sure how much these are where you live, but in the UK and US, they are dirt cheap nowadays - especially on ebay!

The rubber band inside your CD-RW or the spring is damaged or broken, if you can then open ur cd-rw completely and check whats the problem, if u cant do that leave the task for some computer hardware person, if u want to save money then simple put ur thumb firm on the tray as long as u want the cd into the cd-rw, its not a virus, a pure hardware problem

check the connections... press it tightly once...if the problem is still there then just change its data bus.
