we vistited an amish community this past year, and it was very interesting. I find it hard to believe that they can manage to live in this world without all the conveniences that we have. I think they have a nice life, but i wouldn't want it. another thing//they don't have to be enlisted or sign up for any military troops, and would never be drafted if enforced. Do you think this is fair? Live on USA soil and not have to fight for it?

I think the Amish live a very different lifestyle than non-Amish. It is most interesting to see how they can live without cars, electricity (some don't).. I believe they are a much more close-knit community than others. They are super hard workers.. I often go find amish made outdoor furniture- its always better quality.
I did not know that about Amish people that they didn't have to register.. Noone is forced to sign up for the military-- they choose to.. But I wasn't aware that they could not be drafted if they ever drafted again. Interesting- I wonder why that is.. After all they are Americans-
