How do you clean a fishtank?

My fish tank is quite large and I usually clean it every six months. I have an algae eater and a weather loach so they help to keep it clean for longer, and I also have a water filter which I wash out once a weak. When I am cleaning the tank, I set up a large bucket of water at the same temperature as the tank water and transfer the fish into this. Then I wash everything in the tank including gravel and ornaments. I then fill up the tank again and wait until the water is at the correct temperature and transfer the fish back into it.
