Toyota and its recalls. Are you falling into that category?

Toyota is recalling 533,000 SUV, Trucks for a faulty mechanism that makes the steering harder to do. That is an awful alot of recalls, the most ive ever heard of. Does anyone fall into that category, if so is it really that difficult to steer the wheel or is this more of a cosmetic thing more than a safety concern. Thanks for all of your input.

We are a family that buys Fords. Usually when there is a recall it is precautionary. For example, maybe 5 trucks out of 500,000 had a problem with this, but Toyota asks owners to have the problem corrected free of charge to prevent an accident that could lead to a lawsuit.
