I have noticed a lot of people choose best response among the first three responses they recieve for their discussion. Or that they choose the best response from the first page itself? Do you think it is right? Also, how many people read responses from other other than those on page one? Also, please discuss if you click respond to the discussion on page one or read till the last and then respond? Also, Do you continue to respond the discussion having read that the best response is already selected? Also, do you answer it with interest knowing the person has already got the answer he expected and rated best?

If the topic has already got a lot of responses I always read them all to see if somebody has already said what I would have responded with. If so, then I don't bother to respond. I would still respond, even if the best response has been selected, if I can provide additional information, although I think the poster should wait and read most of the responses before selecting a best response. But the, I suppose everybody has their own way of doing things.

I read what I have time for, and if a best response has been selected it doens't bother me, because I'm not in it for the ratings. If a subject line catches my eye I'll read the conversation regardless of responses .

Some have done this including me. Sometimes the discussion has been sitting there for quite a while so the topic starter had to choose the best response. But also sometimes, when the user has chosen the best response some users still want to post to that discussion as they are interested in it. If a discussion has gotten a lot of response say 100 responses or more, I don't usually read all the posts as my computer is a little bit slow so it eats up most of my time so I just read the first to second pages of the discussion and hit the respond to this discussion button. It doesn't matter if a discussion has a best response or not. I still do respond to discussions with best response as I'm interested with the topic or I would like to add an advice if it were seeking for advice.

yes, that's really anoying when they do that choosing the best response among the first three and not reading the whole responses but I don't respond discussions just to get the best response if the topik interests me then I respond and this is a nice discussion by the way, keep it up :-)

Yes I still answer questions with the best response already chosen. I mainly will respond to a discussion because I am interested in what they are discussing and have something to say about it. When I start a discussion, I usually wait about a week to allow others to see it and give time for more responses before choosing the best response, sometimes the discussions get "burried", and it may have just been posted today, but 10 pages later you'll find it. I just like to respond to things I like to talk about or are interesting, being chosen for the best response isn't my main goal.

Well... I'm fairly new here, so I don't really know much about the whole "best response" thing. So yes, if I have something to say/add to the discussion, I'll respond regardless of whether it's been selected. I'm not sure how everyone else decides the best response, so I can't really comment there. I do try to read every response before I post. Sometimes, though, there are over a hundred responses and I simply can't get through them all. I do try to at least read the first 3 or 4 pages, though, to get a feel for the discussion, and I try to read the last few posts. Sometimes, though, I do post after reading just the first page. That's because I have thoughts going in my head about responding and what I'd like to say and I'm afraid if I read all the responses, I'll end up forgetting what I wanted to say! If I do that, though, I will try to read as many responses as I can and comment on them if I have something to add.

It all depends upon the expectations of the poster and the purpose of his posting the response that when should he go to announce the best response. Well the poster gifts excellence to the response which contains the best resolution to his post or which has some valuable information in pursuit of the post's purpose. And such response can be any whether it is from the first page or the last page or even from among 2 responses only. Before electing the best response, the poster knows well how best the other future exepectable responses could be. Well it is a clause under Dont's of response section approved by the myLot.com that nobody should respond a post before going through all existing responses to that post. So how many of us obey this rule, nobody can say except the poster who goes through all the responses to his post. As far as i am concerned, i dont respond before viewing existing responses. And where there are large number of existing responses ( say above 80 or 100 ), i dont respond as it is very time consuming to go through all of those responses and also probability is very low to post a new matter in our response to such posts having that very large number of responses. No matter whether the poster has selected the best response or not, if i have some valuable information regarding that post to include in my response, i will definitely participate in that discussion. As far as my interest is concerned while responding such a discussion already having the best response, i am very exciting to respond when i have enviable matter to say in my response.

well i do not really care if i am 100th person to respond and weather a best response is selected or not...i prefer to publish my point of view in any case, if i like to the discussion...it is really difficult to find good discussions on mylot anyways so it would not heart to respond to the one's which exist..

I usually read and entire discussion if it's not like 15 pages long. I really don't mind if the best response has already been selected. I have noticed the best responses usually do fall on the 1st page. In some cases I have seen the best response selected in a matter of hours.

i still answer the discussion even if the user had already selected his or her best response. if i want to answer that discussion then i will answer it, no more things taken into consideration. i'll just go straight to the idea that put me to that page - to answer.

i dnt worry bout getting the best response. so even if bset response has been chosen, i would respond to a discussion if it is of my interest or liking. And as for others, i dnt think people have the tendency to mark te best response in first three pages.

i will still respond if the best answer has been chosen but do always feel a bit silly doing it. I do try to read all the responses but will not respond if it is a straight forward question and the answer has already been received best of luck keep posting

First of all,I don't think that we have to choose best response from the first three or four responses we receive at our discussions.I use to read the responses till the last, but, mea culpa, not always. If I really have sth to say at a discussion that has a best response selected,I do it.

Well, if what you say is right, it's a sad situation. I think, people should wait for at least one day before choosing the best answer. Others need time to read and respond to their discussion. I only respond to discussion I am interested in and don't care about the best answer is chosen or not.
