SO I asked for and got a slow cooker for x-mas and now I am a t a loss as to what to make in it. I have made beef for sandwiches and some sloppy joe, but now what? Everyone always talkes baout how they uses theres all the time, butu then when I ask it turns out there is very little you can make in one. What do you make? Please share your slow cooker dinner ideas. I would love to have the free time while some stuff cooks for dinner.

I usually just make spaghetti sauce and meatballs in mine. I know there are recipes out there somewhere, I just never really looked. there is one other thing that I do with mine that you might like, if you like German Potato Salad. Here is the recipe... Crock Pot German Potato Salad INGREDIENTS: 6 cups sliced raw potatoes 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup water 1/4 cup cider vinegar 1/4 cup granulated sugar or sugar substitute 2 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes 4 slices bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled, or about 4 tablespoons real bacon bits PREPARATION: In a slow cooker, combine potatoes, onion, and celery. In a medium bowl, combine water, vinegar, sugar, tapioca, black pepper and parsley flakes. Pour mixture over potato mixture. mix well to combine. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours. Stir in crumbled bacon. Serve hot.

I make alot of things in Mine, One of my favorites is Green Beans, New Potatoes (Red Potatoes) and polish sausage I do fresh green beans but you can do can as well, cut the sausage in 1/4 inch pieces, season it with garlic powder, salt and pepper and let it cook all day it is a great easy dish. I also do chili, roast with vegtables, hamburger soup, a great apetizer at a party is the little sausauge and barbeque sauce and honey. Bean and ham or neck bones are good, a day before soak the beans and smoked neck bones, or ham in water and seosoning, then that next morning put them on let em cook all day. It is great.

I have one, but don't use it very often. I don't like the idea of leaving it on while I'm not home, and if we are home, it takes too long..my family has no patience to wait for a slow cooked meal. I have made a pot roast in it before, I put some garlic and and onion, a few potatoes, and some carrots. It turned out pretty good.

I feel they are alright to leave on while gone but I try not to make a habit of it either. Sometimes I cook something on low through the night. This may require either doing it last minute late at night or getting up just a little bit earlier but it's hard to overcook something in a crock pot(unless it's a dessert or bread). Then in the morning I put it in the refrigerator for the day(just the inner ceramic part). About an hour or two before dinner I pull it out and put it back in the cooker on high just to heat it up. While it's heating up I have time to make a side dish and WALLA! Dinner is served!

My family's favorite is country pork ribs slow cooked for about 10 hours in spaghetti sauce. It is so tender when done it melts in your mouth. We then have it with egg noodles which we cover in the sauce.

My familie's favorite is BBQ chicken. I boil some chicken on the stove first. Then I shred it, put it in the crock and add some BBQ sauce(Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ is our favorite). It mostly just has to heat up and get the flavor in the chicken(an hour or so on low would do). Then serve on hamburger buns or homemade rolls...mmm...mmm!

I love my slow cooker. I cook everything in it. I cook vegetable soup in it all the time. Add your raw meat cubes and canned veggies and tomato paste and let it cook all day. I cook chili in it. Put all your meat, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, tomoto sauce and chili seasoning in it and let it cook. THey also have these really nice new bagged dinners that you can buy in the frozen section of your grocery store and it gives exact instructions, all you have to do is add water. There is also a bunch of cook books out there to tell you what you can make in them. They are really cheap. I use them a lot. Being a mother of 4, I have learned to use mine a lot. They are wonderful.

I love mine too and have about three of them. I also have a couple of good recipe books. I find that you can cook just about anything in them though. It's great to do all the preparing early in the day or the day/night before and then it cooks and is ready for dinner. I don't have to get tired out cooking dinner. Just serve it and then wash the pot if it's all eaten or if there are left overs keep it in the pot and put it in the fridge with the lid on.

I always make my pot roast in my slow cooker. I throw the roast, vegatables, some water, and onion soup mix in.....then at the end of the day I have a tender pot roast. This is making me really hungry because it is really good to eat when it is cold outside.

Here is a dessert recipe for your crockpot. I had a great big crockpot until the maid broke my insert for it. I have lots of recipes for a crockpot. Arrange in alternate layers with apples in crockpot. Cover and cook on high for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours or until apples are tender. Serve warm with cream, hard sauce or ice cream. Makes 4 to 5 servings.

oh no that's not true, you can make almost anything in a slow cooker. THey are great for beef stew and chili, I've used mine for hot dogs, pork chops, you can make soups in there...they have books just full of crock pot recipes. Also recently Marie Callendar came out with these frozen crockpot meals. Everything you need is in the bag, just dump it in and let it cook. I tried the beef stew kind, it was pretty tasty.

I have had my slow cooker for many years. My husband just bought me the bigger slow cooker for Christmas. I used to have to cut my meals in half so that they would fit. I now buy big pieces of beef and put is in early in the morning and let it go on high all day. I wait till the meat has been in about an hour and then I add onion and gravy. The meat turns out so tender. I can make just a nice roast on a Monday and serve the beef with mashed potatoes and a vegitable. Then on Tuesday I would take the left over beef and chop it up and place it back in the slow cooker with all types of vergitables and let it cook again on slow all day. My family loves this. We will have some type of beef all week by using the slow cooker. There are also kits that you can buy to use in your slow cooker but I have not found one that my family likes yet. I love my slow cooker and think it is the best invention ever.

Try the new cooking bags that are relatively new. They are designed for a slow cooker so that you don't have to do a lot of scrubbing. I have used them and they work great. They are slow cooker bags by renald wrap.

My favorite use is to make a mexican cheese dip, great for taking to potlucks. 1 pkg velveeta cheese (light works also)-cut into 1" cubes 1 jar salsa (Hot or Mild-your choice) 1 can refried beans 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey) - with taco seasoning fried in it. I put them on high for 2 hrs, then low 2 hours, but basically you're just melting the cheese. Stir when cheese is almost melted & put on low. You can omit the ground beef if you want it to be an appetizer. I serve with a bag of tortilla chips. You can also omit the refried beans if you still use the ground beef. Play with the recipe, you can't screw it up.

I love my slow cooker and use it all the time. I have been using the liners, so clean up has been so easy. Here is a recipe you may like: Ginger Beef with Broccoli 6 medium carrots cut into 1 inch pieces (I used the baby carrots and just cut them in half) 2 medium onions cut into wedges 1 1/2 pounds beef round steak cut into 1/2 inch slices 1 tablespoon minced ginger 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 envelope beef gravy mix 4 cups broccoli 3 cups cooked rice Place carrots, onion, beef strips, ginger and garlic in crock pot. Stir together water, soy sauce, and beef gravy mix. Pour over meat and vegetables cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours OR high 4-5 hours (8-10 hours made the beef dry) If using low heat, turn to high. Stir in broccoli. Cover and cook for 15 minutes more on high heat or until broccoli is crisp-tender. Serve over hot cooked rice. Makes 6 servings

Everyone loves my BBQ'd country ribs done in the crock pot for about 15 hours. They are delicious and melt in your mouth. I never have left overs and no one has ever turned down an invite when I have them. LOL I do a side dish of regular egg noodles with the sauce on top and a vegetable! It is awesome! Have some in the crock pot right now for tomorrow's dinner!

I use my slow cooker at least once a week if not more. my favorite things are cheaper cuts of meat, I throw them in there and add 2 or 3 cloved of garlic some seasoning salt and let them cook for the day. in about 2 hours from supper I throw in some quartered potatoes and some carrots, yummmyyyyyyy I use some sausess too sometimes, thia sause in a jar goes well over chicken wings cook all day...yummmy we can get fresh turkey drumsticks once in awhile here and I usually can get 2 of them stuffed into the slow cooker and they are really good that way. salt them and cook them all day. add mashed potoates, veggies and a bun for supper. if you like squash it is good cooked in a slow cooker, If I have a peice I throw it over what ever I am cooking and it cookes along with it. I have way more if you are intersted.
